The department of music come into existence with college in the year 1958. It offers three years degree course in North Indian Classical Music - Vocal and Music Instrumental -  Tabla and Sitar . It has constantly been in the process of enhancing the skills of our students and creating the right kind of intellect where they can bring out a perfect personality of creativity and thought. Emphasis is laid upon oral tradition within classroom teaching along with the blend of modern way of teaching, in addition to it equal emphasis is laid on both theoretical knowledge and practical orientation.

Noted experts are being invited regularly to share their knowledge with the students. The Dept. has its Music Club which promotes the taste and talent and gives a chance to the students of college to come together and showcase their musical talent.  The students also get an opportunity to participate in public performances put up by the college.

  No wonder quite a few of our alumni are performing artists in Radio and Doordarshan while others as placed in eminent positions in various schools, colleges and many government and private organizations. The department is indeed privileged to have had some illustrious names in field of music as performing artists over the years like - Tabla mastrio Ustad Zakir Hussain, dancer Sonal Mansingh , Pandit Rajendra Gangani , Nartaki Natraj ,  Pt. Rajan Sajan Mishr, Bombay Jaishree and so on.

The department has seen many fruitful and prosperous years with the rapid development . Presently the department has two faculties as guiding  force - Dr. Tushti Maithani  and Dr. Arti Sisodia . Dr. Tushti Maithani,  Head of the Dept. & Associate Professor is M. A. in Sitar and Vocal,  Ph.D. ( Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidhyalaya, Kheragarh)and D. Music( Gandharwa Mahavidhyalaya). She has specialization in Indian classical and Garhwali folk music. She has two books published – “Bhartiya Adhyatmik Prushthboomi Mein Garhwali Lok Sangeet” and “ Bhartiya Hindustani Sangeet ke Aadhar Stambh”. Beside this she has been performing at National and International stages and presented many papers in National and International conferences and Seminars.

Dr. Arti Sisodia , Assistant Professor is Sangeet Praveen in Music- Tabla and M. A. in English Literauture. She has qualified U.G.C. NET ( Junior Research fellowship & Lectureship ) and done Ph.D. from C.C.S. University in Music. She has been a Gold Medalist and position holder throughout her academics. Her specialization is in Indian classical Music and Electronics & Electrical Musical devices and instruments.  She has got many  research papers published in National and International journals and  has numerous paper presentations at national and international level to her credit.

Shri Ram Singh Kholia has been working as lab. bearer in the Department.
